A day in Tallinn

As you might know by now, we arrived in Tallinn in the middle of the night as we took the ferry from Helsinki at 11PM. We then managed to park our bed on a 24h parking for 7€ in the creative district in order to spend the night.

In the Morning

Once awake, it was time to explore this lovely city.

We headed first and foremost to the touristic centre to hear the happy surprise that a free walking guided tour was about to start and we were more than welcomed to jump on board. Excited, we met with Dominic, a British man who fell in love with Tallinn, and followed him through the lovely snow covered streets of the old town, starting with the freedom square and all the way to the very top to admire the view. It was quite interesting to hear Estonia’s History and to learn it while exploring the capital. This city has a strong and heavy History linked to its independence and the different occupations it went through.

To warm up our feet

To warm up our feet, we entered an underground coffee shop named Kehrwieder carved in the rock and enjoyed two warm chocolates with a view on the church and the market square.

For lunch, we headed to the covered market halls and street food stands and wandered around the aisles before choosing to order homemade pierogis and some cake slice to share.

Afternoon Walk

We slowly walked back to the car by the creative neighbourhood, enjoying the strong contrast of a modern street art next to a typical market life.

Tallinn has a lot to offer, its locals were very welcoming and we could clearly picture ourselves staying there more than a day.

Evening Drink

Finally, we drove to the TV Tower or Teletorn, a former antenna now used as a museum and a restaurant on the top floor, to enjoy some wine with a breath-taking view on the city covered by the sunset light.

After that, we went back to our car to appreciate a nice pizza before a good night of sleep!
